    Hi Niels,

Is that possible to use lasso tool as an eraser (or an utility knife)?  That tool is so convenient on removing large areas at once and precise small areas. Also when used with shift, lasso line might temporarily straightened and some (hard to hand drawn elements like  backgorund elements etc.) could easily been removed as seen on  some drawing apps.(the way pen with shift to draw straight lines)

Personally I only use two types of erasers and lasso eraser is the one I used the most. Plus that would be awesome to be able to customize the 3+3 tools that were located in the upper left of the screen as well. This tool designs are also great and pleasant to eye by the way.

    Best,

You can use the lasso for removing areas, which is a great and super useful alternative to the erasers (as you are saying).

But in that case we call it the Cutter and not the Lasso. Just hit X instead of L – and you will be able to draw the dotted line and pick up the area as you are used to with the Lasso. The only difference from the Lasso is that the area is removed from the drawing. Now you can stamp it down elsewhere, but if you don’t need it, just hit Esc to loose the cutout.

So to remove an area from a drawing: Hit X, mark the area, hit Esc.

Great, thank you! I didn’t know Esc cleans the inside of the scene. This is how I used to do on Toon boom as well. Addition to that , what I meant is having it with just a click instead of double. Clip studio has this tool and very handy once got used to it.

Or,  remove an area from a drawing: Hit X, mark the area and choose Eraser…Voilá!..  🙂

Selecting lasso and deleting inside would not bother me much before, as I used to do it on Toonboom or similar softwares but I have to mention that after Clip Paint I absolutely became fan of lasso eraser and suggesting it. In Clip Studio while I am drawing, I just click Ctrl(or any modifier I desired) tool turns into a lasso eraser and when I am done I just release the ctrl and continue drawing. This might be a small detail but believe me while drawing every milisecond counts 🙂 If Animation Paper have this, I will definitely start thinking Animation paper as a sketching tool as well.

Modifier keys are great by the way and with custom keyboard shortcuts any software become extra powerful. I am not sure if there is a technical issue behind on avoiding custom shortcuts to users. With this ability we can use gaming keyboards, joypads etc as we want and it is very useful for pro artists that are using software all day. And more some software also started to offer many custom key options for the same tool as well which is awesome! Might be seems like a detail but ergonomics are important and everybody has unique ways as their creativity.

    Thanks

We want to do custom keyboard shortcuts, it’s on our list, – but a lot of other features have been prioritized higher. So that is the only reason we haven’t done it yet. 🙂 It will eventually come.
