Hi there!
I tell my students, ALL of the time, if you can’t do something with paper and pencil, then you shouldn’t be able to do it with AP. That being said, there are many tools and functions in AP that could never be done with the old school paper and pencil, there is one that has come up over and over and over again. No matter how much I teach them about scene/animation planning/layout etc. there have been times where it would have been incredibly helpful to be able to reposition an entire layer of drawings at one time, or just a few drawings at one time. After creating 100’s of drawings, the last thing the student wants to do is reposition them one by one. It’s not only time consuming, it also almost always turns out inaccurate.
Old school, we’d tear off the pegs and reposition the drawings and add a new peg strip. That was also a pain in the behind and only done if absolutely necessary. Digital software has made our job much more productive by being able to reposition or resize multiple drawings at one time.
