Editing/transforming an imported image
Quote from sanzano on September 16, 2025, 12:06 amThis may be a silly question. I was hoping to use this tool to animate basically short funny videos and memes. I am new to it.
I am importing an image that will help me as a reference, but I wanted to move it around and change the size of it, but I am not sure how. It looks like it's a blocked action and in the x-sheet it appears as dots where the layer colors usually are. As I said, I am new to animation/design software, so I am not sure what it means.
Is there a way for me to apply basic transformations or select operations to an imported image? I made a test drawing and after importing it, I wanted to move it a little to the left. Maybe I am just missing an obvious configuration or button, but I can't find it.
Thanks a lot!

This is certainly not a silly question - and I understand your confusion, because you aught to be able to scale and move a reference image around. This is exactly what we are working on right now! No wonder you can't find it 🙂
You will have this feature in the very next release (beta 3)!
For now, I suggest you use the imported image as a reference (locked in place) and then draw on top of it in another layer (trace it). All drawings done inside Animation Paper can be lasso'ed (hit L for lasso or X for cutter) and then moved/rotated/scaled/flipped. - Without degrading the line quality or risk getting it blurred.
Thanks,
Niels
