OpenEXR implementation
Quote from manimation on June 5, 2025, 3:26 pmHi Niels,
OpenEXR is listed on the Home page but I can find no way loading such files, has it been implemented or is it just going to be an output format only?
Output MP4, GIF, ProRes MOV or frame-stacks as PNG or OpenEXR - including alpha, audio and X-Sheet timing data. Supporting OCA (Open Cel Animation).
Having such a format for importing would be useful for importing 3D backgrounds saved to that format.

We do support OpenEXR for export - as you are aware. But for some reason we didn't get to implementing it for import - I personally don't use OpenEXR for import, so I overlooked it 🙂 We better fix that soon and do the importer! 😉
Technically speaking, what Animation Paper is using from the OpenEXR file is the same that could be contained in a PNG file. So for now, you could get by using PNG instead of OpenEXR (if your 3D program can save PNG files that is).
Thanks for reminding me!!
