Those indicate that a new message or answer has been posted. New stuff you havn’t yet seen. This only works when you are logged into the site.

    Thanks a lot Catarina!

Straight lines are on our todo-list and will be implemented very soon.

Square and circle tool – I am not so sure about. You see, I am trying to keep AP as simple and uncluttered as possible – very “analogue” in feel. I am reluctant of tools, that increases the amount of “technicalness” if they can be avoided.

If you are doing animation that needs super tight geometric shapes, I’m thinking this could be done using reference images, either as a sequence of 3D renders/wireframes or simply one image of squares and circles – reference that you trace. I know you could probably say, come on, it’s just a simple square or circle tool, and they are simple and easy to implement, but still, I hope you see my point. Maybe you can appreciate why this exactly is one of the most challenging things of making Animation Paper – keeping it focused.

    Cheers,
    Niels

At some point soon we will do a simple reverse function, but that doesn’t help you now. 🙂 For now you can switch drawings around just by using cut/paste like this:

Click the thumbnail in the x-sheet you want to move, hit Ctrl X, then click where you want it and Ctrl V. Then do the same for the rest of the drawings you need to move. 🙂

It’s Cmd (not Ctrl) if you are on Mac.

    Best,
    Niels

Thank you very much for thinking of us in this way. Others have asked me the same before. I truly appreciate your support and good will, but I would rather just get the software done and start selling it to all the people waiting. So please support us by buying it once the final is released. Also help spreading the word is great! Thank you so much.

In reply to: What does linking a layer mean?

If you click the link icon on two layers, those two layers will be linked together. That means that when you change anything regarding timing in one of the layers, the other will automatically follow with the same kind of change. This is good for layers that belong together, like a body and it’s head separated out on two layers. So let’s say you need more frames for an expression on the head, so you add a few drawings to it, then the linked body will get the same amount of drawings added to keep the action in sync later down the timeline.

You can link as many layers together as you need. Including annotations. This way your notes “stick” to the drawings you made them for.

Let me know if this makes any sense?

    Thanks,
    Niels

    Oh! Wow!

OK, so I’ll assume it was something local on your system. Let me know if the problem returns. I’m glad it works for you now.

OK, thanks. That’s weird. We’ll try to investigate. What system are you on? Win/Mac and OS version? Hardware?

    Thanks,
    Niels

    Hi Matilda,

Yeah, using the menu is not good. You have to use the keys. But you say it doesn’t work? You need to hold down the two keys. And then you can, while holding them down, move and rotate your drawing. Is that what you are doing?

Thanks for the info Hans! I am (sort of) aware of these things already, but always good to get some more insight and detail.

We will be making our fill tool similar in functionality. It has to be efficient. Good point about the bloom-up trick. Thanks!
