KeymasterThanks for your good suggestions Vizzy! As you guessed they have been requested many times before, but that just validates them even more. Coloring, including fill tool, color picker and a full color palette is the first thing we are going to finish after version 5.0 that we are working on now. Also a good brush system, is on our todo list.
Your first suggestion with shapes (like rectangle, oval, etc) is something I have deliberately stayed away from. My reason is that I want to keep Animation Paper feeling less technical and have that “analogue” vibe, – so I tend not to have numbers, percentages, measurements, vectors, etc in your face. It is basically about drawing, animation, timing. And keeping you, as the animator, in the zone, so you can do your best work without getting distracted, confused or disturbed all the time. Drawing a rectangle or circle, by hand, is most often fine and the simplest and fastest way forward in my mind. I appreciate, not everybody will think like this. So I am not saying “never” 🙂 I hope you see where I am coming from? Please let me know your thoughts. I am super happy to be challenged on this view of mine. Please explain to me why shapes are important to you – if they are.
Much appreciated! Thanks,

KeymasterThat is very cool! Thanks a lot for showing it.
I am having a lot of problems with this forum software. I am very sorry, because I only saw your post just now. I am supposed to get notifications, when new users have a post for me to approve. I never got the message. I am also deleting tons of spam every day – so I am working on a new solution. I am sorry you were a victim of this mess.
Still, I am glad you posted your work, and that I stumbled across it so everybody will be able to watch.
Thanks,

KeymasterThanks Herb. I see no immediate reason for why it wouldn’t run on the Spin 1. Anyway… Glad it at least works on your new system.

KeymasterHi Herb, that is great news!
Did we ever find out why it wouldn’t run on your old Acer?
Can’t wait for you showing your work!

KeymasterHi Kale,
I have some problems with this web-forum! I only just now randomly discovered your post – so I could approve it. Normally I get notices when a new user is posting. Sorry about the wait!
Anyway, very helpful with the recording of yours! Thanks a lot. We will try to reproduce this issue and hopefully find the solution/fix.
Best,

KeymasterJeff, what variant did you download and install – the installer exe or the portable zip?

KeymasterThanks for your comment and question! We are considering doing a third mode that can swap the order, so you can freely drag your drawings around.
The way Slide mode works is that the order of your drawings are always the same, you use it for adjusting the local timing without messing up timing later down the timeline. So let’s say you have key drawings laid out in sync with an audio track. Then you can, in slide mode, adjust your individual drawing up or down to hit the exact beats in your audio track, without changing your perfect sync/timing of your drawings later in your animation.
It is deliberate that you can’t (accidentally) drag a key drawing to the other side of its neighbour key.
But, as you request, sometimes it would be very relevant to be able to do so. 😉

KeymasterThanks for mentioning it! I am aware of this issue. Maybe we just need to adjust the color of the green lines according to the background color. This way we don’t introduce more cluttering options. 😉
In reply to: about timeline and shortcuts ?
September 26, 2024 at 1:20 pm #7147Niels
KeymasterIn Animation Paper we are mimicking the ond style analogue exposure sheets – therefore the vertical view. However, many people have asked for a horisontal version, like you do now, so we will probably make it a user option for one of the next future releases.
Thanks for mentioning it Ben!

KeymasterHi Ben,
I think I understand you perfectly. Thank you for getting in contact!
X-Sheet: In Settings, you have the option to have it to the left or the right. Additionally you can detach the X-Sheet, so it is as a separate window for placement on a second monitor etc.
Customize shortcuts: This is not possible in the current version, however we will implement customizable shortcuts in a future release. I can recommend using the Speed Dials as an alternative – they can be fully customized, so you have all your favorite tools handy at all times.
Does this help you?
Thanks,
