In reply to: ProRes MOV transparent Issue
January 24, 2024 at 10:12 pm #6358NielsKeymasterSorry about your bug report that vanished. It seems there was a problem (maybe still is?) with the forum. I can’t see your original post and I got nothing to approve. I am happy you are able to post this though.
For Alpha 8 we fixed a lot of problems with exporting of MOV with Alpha. Apparently there’s still one rare problem left it seems. I have heard of one more user who had similar problems as you. For some weird reason there’s no problem for most users – even with the exact same ap file and computer setup.
Do you have the problem if you try to export another animation of yours? (If you don’t have another, please just do a few quick doodles to do a test-export). This is interesting if it only happens once in a while or if it is consistant. Please let me know.
To get your animation exported correctly, I will be happy to help – please email your ap file to me (use wetransfer.com or similar means if the file is large) and I will send the mov file with Alpha back to you. My email address is the one you got your activation key from.

January 24, 2024 at 10:19 am #6349NielsKeymasterWe don’t have that in the current version, but it would be easy and good options to add to Settings/Preferences. I’ll put it on the list! Thanks!
In reply to: Shift and Trace / Scale
January 24, 2024 at 10:07 am #6348NielsKeymasterHi Bahadir, thanks a lot for this!
You are not missing anything. Shift and Trace (aka Off the Pegs) doesn’t have scaling. My initial thought, when designing it, was that it probably wasn’t needed that much (you can maybe get by, using a lassoed cutout instead) – and having scaling wouldn’t resemble the original analogue technique. However, this shouldn’t of course be a reason to not do what’s right in the modern version of Shift and Trace. So thanks for mentioning this! If you need it, chances are that others do too. I’ll put it on our list. I’ll look deeper into it, but it makes sense.
We could make the interface follow the mouse pointer just as it does when using the Move/Rotate/Zoom-tool pressing Space. But you mention the H shortcut, that one is easier, because it only have the one function, so you can slick and drag from anywhere.
Anyway, thanks a lot.
Niels

January 23, 2024 at 8:54 pm #6345NielsKeymasterI love this!! I saw it already when you posted it somewhere on social media. Thanks for showing it Bahadir! It’s a great example of how to do lip-sync and use annotations in AP.
In reply to: Windows Surface Book pen doesn’t use pressure sensitivity
January 22, 2024 at 6:59 am #6338NielsKeymasterYou’re most welcome.
I haven’t tried it my self on a Surface, but I was under the impression that the fingers WAS automatically only used for panning/zooming/rotating – not drawing. I will investigate this and make sure we add such a feature as you suggest. Because it must be annoying without it! π Thanks a lot for the heads up!
Thanks,

January 22, 2024 at 6:51 am #6337NielsKeymasterOK, thanks. Yeah, it sounds like that’s the explanation.

January 21, 2024 at 8:42 pm #6333NielsKeymasterHehe – that’s great! Thanks for showing it. And I think I got the solution for the pressure problem (see my reply in your other post).
Thanks,

January 21, 2024 at 8:39 pm #6332NielsKeymasterThanks a lot Acute,
Please try this workaround and let me know how it goes! Do this: Find the file βqt.confβ (probably here C:\Program Files\Animation Paper\qt.conf). Delete it or rename it (to save it). Then launch Animation Paper again.
This will force Animation Paper to use Windows Ink, which is probably what is needed.

January 21, 2024 at 8:33 pm #6331NielsKeymasterHi Acute,
Thanks a lot for this. I can see from your other forum post that you got it to install after all. What happened?

January 21, 2024 at 9:08 am #6323NielsKeymasterLet’s try to see if a similar type of window will open. Try go to the menu Windows -> Reference Display. That will open a similar type of window (though totally different with its content, but never mind that). We just want to check if it opens or not.
Please let me know.
Thank you!

January 20, 2024 at 10:07 pm #6321NielsKeymasterOK, thanks for checking again. I will talk to the programmers to see how we can test and solve this – then I’ll get back to you.
Thanks again,

January 20, 2024 at 9:12 am #6319NielsKeymasterThanks Jan, I’m happy that it works for you now.
About the Settings. This is a new window we added in Alpha 8. It is supposed to open the Settings window, where you will have various options for a list of features. Are you sure it doesn’t just open behind something else? Sorry, I have to ask π If you are positive it doesn’t open, I would like to investigate this to see if there’s a bug somewhere.
And thanks for the link about the circle. Great for others if they search this forum.
Thanks a lot!

January 19, 2024 at 2:58 pm #6316NielsKeymasterHi Jan,
I have no idea what that strange thing could be. There’s a double circle? It sounds like it could be something external to AP that does that. But let’s investigate…
Are you running Alpha 8? What system? (Windows, Mac or Linux – and version)
Since it only just started today, I’m guessing it’s the same version of AP (Alpha 8) before and after this happened?
Could you take a screenshot and post it here, – how it looks might give me some hint.
Thanks a lot,
NielsIn reply to: Still dots within the pencil. Isn’t as smooth as the pen. Or in the tutorial.
January 17, 2024 at 8:39 am #6305NielsKeymasterOK, then there’s no need to send me anything. π Your Pencil is working as intended. It is supposed to be this rough. The Marker is technically exactly the same as the pencil, but without the texture. So if you don’t want the texture – just use the Marker. That’s the main reason we have made those two different pen types.
