On Beta 3 (the current version) I don't believe video import has been fully implemented, the only video option that currently works for import is that of animated gif files. Current working export options are for gif, mov (ProRes), and mp4 (H.264).Rest assured other options will become available but Niels will no doubt update us on which ones are planned and what ones will be available by the time of the final release.

Quote from Niels on February 14, 2026, 10:21 pmThanks for the question Kuyathepeach! And thank you Manimation - you are correct.
We are going to support importing at least mp4, maybe other movie files as well. This is planned to come soon!
For now, you can import animated gifs or you can simply import a sequence of png's or jpg's. You just select the first file in the sequence and then shift select the last - and all of them will import as an animation or video. If the files are numbered with "holes" in the sequence, i.e. frame numbers are skipped - Animation Paper will interpret the missing frames as a held frame (clones).
Do you have software that can convert a movie file to a sequence of image files?
