New release for the holidays! (Beta 3)
Quote from Niels on February 9, 2026, 9:19 amHi Fakepivot! Yes, the ability to change hotkeys is super important. This has been planed all along, but is prioritised lower than other important features. It will come though - no worries. 🙂
Thanks for letting us know, though. A good reminder that it can not be forgotten (which it won't).
Can I ask, which keyboard layout are you using? From which country? On mine, / are not next to . (I have a danish keyboard layout, which I am fully aware is not exactly wide spread) 😉
Thanks,
Niels

Quote from Fakepivot on February 9, 2026, 10:20 amhi, tnx for quick replay, i use standard qwerty windows keyboard, for the most part i don't mind current hotkey layout, with arrow keys for flip keys and control+arrow key to add pages and with " . " key to switch pencil/eraser its fine, it keeps my hand on the right side and i can pretty much do everything i need to do, just wish i could get rid of that "loose drawing" hotkey that's all :)..
i am 3d animator, i use to do a lot of 2d rough animation then use to that reference in 3d, i used program called digicell flipbook.. i did try other software like clipstudio paint, but i find that having things like xsheet in 2d animation is much nicer than timeline, it feels closer to traditional i like that a lot.. i will look forward for the full release.

About the keyboard layout: Almost everybody use a standard qwerty keyboard, however, there are differences from country to country. Some keys/characters are distributed differently on keyboards depending on tradition and which chars are important in a language. I'm guessing yours are american. On american keyboards the / is next to the .
Anyway, just an idea: You can also choose to use shortcuts D and E, for Draw and Erase. These have the added bonus, when you are used to them, that they contain size and opacity settings too, because you can HOLD D or E, to have the settings pop up at the position of your cursor. These keys are on the left side of the keyboard, where you also have Q and W for flipping (as alternative to the arrow keys).

Quote from Niels on February 24, 2026, 8:16 pmI agree Jimkeyl56. BUT... I'm keeping you... FORCED... to my beautifully excellent key-layout... just a... little... bit... more!! [evil laughter].
Anyway 🙂 It is high on our todo list. We'll get it done. Thanks for voicing your opinion! Got it.

Thanks! I believe $79 is quite fair for what you get. It is not much compared to other software, - Animation Paper is uncomplicated, but has high quality tools in my opinion. I have been promising coloring tools all along. As written on the front page of this site, coloring is included in the price - meaning you will get it as a free update. We will be doing the coloring as the first thing after release of v5.0.
Thanks for your support and valid comments!
Hell, Toon Boom is anywhere from $21-$94/mo, and you don't actually own anything, that's to RENT it. TV Paint is $750 to own, which is about TEN TIMES the cost of Animation Paper. $79 for this is AWESOME!
