Generally i think shortcuts to settings are a bit of an overkill. I set my pencil and eraser the way i like it, and then i go to work on animating, and basically never touch them again. I might pop in and finetune once in a while, but not every day. On the other hand jumping between pencil and eraser is something i do every other second.
