Thank you Bahadir. Sounds like the way forward. I will see if we can make this already for the beta, which is our next release.

I am so happy for people like you and Ridvan and everybody who have such good feedback for me. I am truly grateful and excited – because this is exactly how we can keep making Animation Paper better. Thank you!!

Earlier, you talked about the missing ability to see the frame number when you slide/move drawings. I totally agree with you. Here’s what we have done so far – this will be part of the beta:

    FrameNumberUpdateRecording.mp4

    Thanks,
    Niels

I truly appreciate your input! Very helpful, both of you Bahadir and Ridvan! Thank you!

I think I get it now. If you set a layer to invisible, then you cannot accidentally draw on it. But that is not what you mean. You are talking about adjusting a layers timing in the X-Sheet – which you can do by accident also if it is set to invisible. I see. Interesting.

So “locking” a layer would mean, it is not editable, right? Meaning you can not add or delete any drawings (or clones) in it. Just having a little lock icon/button on it, like we already have on the audio track, could be one way to do it.

Of course we would need to work out what should happen if the layer is also linked. I guess the lock would have priority over the linking, so nothing could be changed on a locked layer, even if its linked layer is changing.

    What do you think?

    Thanks a lot,
    Niels

It’s a good idea. I’ll put it on our consider-list!

This is a feature that has been suggested a few times before – and we have it on our todo list. It is quite important and high in our list. Thanks for mentioning it though!

Hi Ridvan – Does it behave the same in other software? Could it be because both Wacoms are mapped to both screens (making the cursor move double the area/distance)? Just a random guess though.

Please get back to me on this. If there’s something we need to adjust inside AP I want to know, so we can fix it. Thanks a lot for your help!

    Best,
    Niels

    Hi Ridvan,

Thanks for writing about this. This is a known bug on Mac, that we are currently working on fixing.

Animation Paper IS recognizing your headphones, but ONLY when it is launched. – And then it will work for the whole session.

If you first run AP and then connect your headphones, then AP is not recognizing the correct audio output (your headphones).

This will be fixed for the next release, but for now, just restart AP 🙂

Please let me know if you are still having problems!

I will definitely consider changing these percentages. Thanks a lot.

And thanks for your kind words!

    If I helped you – by accident – then you’re welcome 😀

I understand why you would be confused by the 75% at the maximum. I am not too happy about this myself. The reason was that you could compare it to the other pen tools and their opacity – however, it might be more confusing than helpful 😀

Anyway, thanks for testing! Keep it up – and please report anything else you might find weird.

    Thanks,
    Niels

Oh! Is the problem that the max value is 75%? Because that is how it is made – deliberately. The pencil can not have a 100% opacity.

I thought Ridvan said it was somehow “locked” – I mean, I understood it as the slider was not able to move – couldn’t be dragged downwards.

    Can you confirm Ridvan?

Oh wow. That’s interesting. And strange. I’ll have to ask Frederik about this (lead programmer).

Never heard of that problem before – thanks so much for reporting it! We’ll look into it.

To help you right now, I guess it will work if you reset your pen settings. Press Shift Cmd D to Reset User Settings of your drawing tools.

    Hi Ridvan,

I’m not entirely sure I understand you correctly – but maybe I do 😉

You can hold down Shift and then drag left/right to scrub back/forward in your animation – as you know. However, you can actually choose what happens when you let go of Shift and lift your pen dragging (leaving scrub mode):

    1) Either AP will take you back to where you started – at the frame you were working on before you scrubbed.

    2) Or it will stay at the frame you scrubbed to – the frame you ended at.

For 1) first lift your pen, then Shift. For 2) first let go of Shift, then your pen. Once you get used to this, it will feel very natural. 🙂

    Does this answer your question?

    Thanks,
    Niels
