In reply to: Background and character coloring
July 29, 2020 at 4:06 pm #3022NielsKeymasterHi Dympopov,
Thanks for your comments! As you probably are aware, Animation Paper is in alpha. This means it is not finished and features are still to come as we continuously release new free updates.
Both of your points are something we are going to do. Coloring is first and will come very soon.
Best,

In reply to: I can’t see the timeline at the bottom of the screen
July 21, 2020 at 12:04 pm #3016NielsKeymasterHi Vazii. You need to set the percentage-resolution in your Windows settings. Animation Paper thinks it is on a very high resolution screen and therefore shows its GUI too large. At the same time the window is at its minimum size, which makes it have the bottom of the window hidden below the bottom screen border.
So adjust your percentage down. Maybe it is at 150% or 200%, try setting it to 100% or something. 🙂

July 20, 2020 at 8:36 am #3012NielsKeymasterThanks for your patience Todd! It’s important for me to get it right. If you experience problems, more people probably will too. So, we’ll have to get it fixed – and thanks to you we can get our attempts checked. I am very grateful for your help.
In reply to: I can’t add audio file
July 20, 2020 at 8:32 am #3011NielsKeymasterAudio is coming in the next alpha update very soon!
You see, Animation Paper is in “alpha” – which means it is still being worked on. Some features are still to come. Such as coloring/paint, preferences, more import/export formats, etc. And audio! 🙂
Thanks,

We will make most functions available as icons (including Undo/Redo), so you can customise your interface by placing your favourite icons in the Tool Bar or in the Speed Dial. Right now the Tool Bar and Speed Dials are populated by me as a “default”, but what is available for quick clicking or flicking without the use of the keyboard, will be up to you as a user in one of the next alpha releases. 🙂

July 18, 2020 at 9:24 am #3006NielsKeymasterYes, you will be able to set your line color exactly as you want. Also all the coloring will come as mentioned above. Straight lines and circles are “controversial” because I want to keep everything straight forward and as “analogue”/nonetechnical in feel. Of course it can be highly technical and complicated under the hood. But we are contemplating doing lines and circles in an easy and user-friendly way. We’ll see how it goes. 🙂
By the way, you can actually change your white transparent background to black (or gray) in the current alpha. Try to see if that works for you and let me know: Paint -> Transparency Shown As -> Black.
Thanks!
In reply to: X-sheet, add blank to all layers // mark as extreme
July 18, 2020 at 9:15 am #3005NielsKeymasterI guess, with your method, you should keep all your marked keys in the same layer, to be able to jump between them all. If your layers are linked anyway, it will not make a difference – only enable you to skip along all of your keys/extremes.
Sorry if I am missing your point.

July 15, 2020 at 11:08 pm #3000NielsKeymasterHi Michael,
I am not sure if you are already aware of this, but maybe linking the three layers together will do exactly what you are after? When you change anything timingwise in one of the linked layers, like adding a drawing, the same will happen in the other linked layers. Just hit the link icon at the top of the layer column for each layer you want to have linked.
When you specifically add a blank, then AP will add a clone in each of the linked layers. Is that the behaviour you where looking for or did you need it to add blanks and not clones?
About your second point: Did you know about the “key” function? You kan mark any drawing as “key” just by hitting K. You can use that for a few different things, like only flipping between key frames, or only backlighting keys. Or where you thinking of something else/more?

In reply to: Wacom Pen won’t draw properly in AnimPaper. Strange action
July 14, 2020 at 8:06 pm #2994NielsKeymasterHi Dotti,
Sorry for my slow answer. I have been away on vacation for a few days.
About your problem: Sounds weird. It is of course not supposed to work like that. Others have had (not the same, but other) comparable pen troubles. Did you try installing the latest WinTab drivers? That might solve it. Please let me know here if it does (or not).
Thanks,

July 14, 2020 at 7:59 pm #2993NielsKeymasterHi Ilan,
Sorry for my slow answer! I have been away for a short vacation 🙂
Your two points are really good and very interesting. Definitely worth contemplating. Can I get back to you for an even more detailed explanation of your rolling drawings suggestion at some point?
I’ll make sure to make the key frame icon more clear. Thanks a lot!
All the best,

In reply to: odd pencil behavior
July 1, 2020 at 7:17 pm #2979NielsKeymasterYou are right. I get the same here. Not on the Marker – only on the Pencil. It does it no matter the opacity setting. It is all about the size being a the very minimum, i.e. 0.5px – 0.7px or so.
As you know the pencil has paper texture on it to make it a bit rough. The roughness seems to become more evident at this very small size. It is kind of on purpose, but maybe it is too much.
Thanks for your observation! I’ll see if we can tweak it just a tad. 🙂
