I know. I have been fully aware of it. Things have been very slow for a while now. I got my second child and have enjoyed spending all of my time with my family.
But you don’t give birth to the worlds most awesome hand drawn animation software that way!
So, now, I am very pleased to be able to announce that our project is changing gears!
The opening of this new website is first proof of it. It’s a website which is to the point and focused for new interested to quickly learn about Animation Paper.
If you haven’t done so already, you can sign up at the frontpage to show your support. In return you will be amongst the first to try or buy Animation Paper when it is finished. Also you will get a notice when our Kickstarter opens.
Some might have heard me talk about how we will keep the price of a full Animation Paper license at only $79 USD. This is now the official price tag as shown at the front page.
We plan to do a Kickstarter this fall – where you will be able to support our crowd funding and get Animation Paper for only $49 USD! We are developing for both Windows and Mac in one go!
So excited to be back on track! I have secrets to reveal! More exciting announcements coming soon!
Thanks to all of you!

SO. DANG. EXCITED!!! Already signed up!
Awsome! (I like that photo of you and your kid) 🙂
Thank you so much for making this happen!!
Also I want to thank you for making this new release so affordable.
learning 2d animation is an amazing journey and you have helped make it possible.
Thank you very much – and you’re welcome! 🙂
Really looking forward to this. A straightforward solution to animation. Many animation programs are time consuming to learn, don’t function well, or are filled with too many options that aren’t really needed for simple, beautiful, 2D animation.
This is the first interface I have seen that offers what I have been looking for. I’ve used the original animation paper and enjoyed it thoroughly. As a student, this is exciting.
Signed up! Can’t wait!
Thanks a lot Felix! Exactly! 😉
hey
when i try to download the old free version of this program it sends me a link, but the link isnt clickable so you cant get to the download page
could you please fix this or send me a working link?
It seems to work fine here. Can’t see anything wrong about the automatic email link when I try.
Anyway, I can’t recognize your name within the recent emails, so I do not know where to sent a link. Could you please send me an email (niels@animationpaper.com)? I’ll reply with a download link that should work for you. 🙂
That’s strange. Will envestigate and get back to you.
I’m so glad that you proved me wrong and that things are progressing nicely!
This is great, really looking forward to it!
Great! Can’t wait! Fall is just in a few months
I’m very excited at all of this good news. Kickstarter, Windows/Mac, the price change, it all feels very conducive to a successful funding.
I think if we all start telling our friends about it right now I don’t think there will be any problems when the time comes. I’ve already begun telling friends as well as set aside enough for a backing, I really can’t wait because I’ve been starved for a good, solid, go-to animation program.
Cool. Thanks a lot!
Have you thought about developing this for ipad pro?
Certainly. An iPad Pro (with Pencil) version would be great. The interface should be rethought of course, but definitely worth it. After the Windows and Mac version, this is next in line.
This is great news!
I’ve a question: did you guys thought about making Animation Paper available at Steam? There is a software section there too.
Thank you very much!
Yeah, that’s a possibility – we haven’t decided on that yet. Thanks for reminding me.
Hey Niels,
How will animation paper work on a Wacom Cintiq Companion running Windows, will the interface scale to make it easy to operate on the tablet?
Yes, it will. 🙂
Brilliant! Can’t wait. Although do you still plan to make it a first class Mac app, nok that you are developing for Windows too? And are you considering iPad Pro, which has potential to be the ultimate 2D animation computer?
Yes, it will work equally (first class ;)) well on both platforms. And making a version for iPad Pro is first in line next.
hi
i just stumbles across this website looking for an animation software, from what i see this is probably the best i could have found and id love to get involved.
my question: you mention developing for windows and mac, but i can only find the download link for the windows version, is the mac version available yet or is it still a work in progress? (or have i just missed it completely 😄)
I understand it must be a bit confusing. What exists now is the old version of Animation Paper (called Plastic Animation Paper 4.0). It was only made for Windows.
Now I am working on getting the new version to become a reality. The new version will be for both PC and Mac. The plan is to have a Kickstarter this fall and have the final software out by next summer.
Oh! I arrived to the new site today by curiosity and found this post 😮
For me it’s really really exciting, I’m an independent animator and my favourite tool so far is PAP 4 so, well, I just wanted to say: Thanks a lot!
To be honest, I could’t contribute to the last kickstarter campaign because I use mostly windows and some other money issues, but now I’ll be saving money for it since now 😀
Thanks a lot Xtian! I totally understand about the dilemma people had at the last crowd funding campaign. Too bad it was only Mac. But this time! 😉 Let’s have a succesful funding and get Animation Paper out on both platforms soon!
Thanks again,
Niels
Hello,
Interesting. How will it compare to opentoonz ? Maybe you could improve it ?
I am very excited about this. I would like to help in any way I can.
To pledge at the coming Indiegogo campaign (we are working on it right now) will be great help. Especially if you can tell about it and get some friends/colleagues to support as well. Thanks very much!!
