    Thanks for explain once more.

I do understand what you are saying. I am however reluctant of adding certain features, or just functionality in general, because, as you probably have noticed, an important value in the vision of Animation Paper is to keep everything very straight forward, simple and easy. I will go a long way to keep it uncluttered.

Behaviour and functionality in Animation Paper is designed to give very optimised workflows, ie enable the user to work very efficiently. Therefore, with your case, you can actually press Space and start dragging immediately – even before the interface is visible. So if you have a tendency to move your cursor while you are waiting for the interface to appear, just know, that you don’t need to wait – simply press Space and press down with your pen immediately so you can do your panning. This way we also keep it in line with other software.

It is hard to tell from what you write if it is Animation Paper it self that is not loading (aka starting up) or it is your animation that is not loading into Animation Paper.

If it is the latter, please send me your animation file (.ap file), so I can investigate and check if it loads into Animation Paper here at my end. Please send it to my email, which is the one you got your activation key from. Use wetransfer.com or some other method if your file is large.

    Thanks,
    Niels

I mean, regardless of where the cursor is, the pan area pops up right at that spot. So you don’t need to move it to the large outer area. Maybe the problem is that for some reason it doesn’t work like that at your end? I am suspecting the interface might just pop up in the middle of the screen or something?

OK I see. But still, wouldn’t you want your most used tool to sit right where you have your cursor – so you don’t have to move it first?

    Hi again Sam,

In addition to what Mike said:

I am a bit confused because it IS panning (hand tool) that is in the center area when you hold Space. Zoom is the outside area. So if you want to pan/move you hold space and click and drag exactly where your cursor is already. Am I misunderstanding you?

    Thanks,
    Niels

Hi Sam, thanks for your comments! Having control over amount of texture and especially letting opacity go to 100% would not be that difficult to do.

But could you explain, or maybe show with examples, what exactly you mean by “paper feel”, “character” and “traditional look”? Maybe you mean make it a more realistic real pencil – which is hard to do before we get to it (get to the actual brush system).

Mike, thanks for your participation and support of the whole project. Much appreciated!

We have planned to have a preferences window, but we might end up not needing it. We’ll see.

We do have options for various things of course, but so far they fit very well in the menues.

One of the first menu items in the X-Sheet menu is for swapping sides, so the x-sheet goes to the opposite side (and the tool bar swaps side as well always being opposite of the x-sheet).

We might make them independent of each other in one of the next alpha releases.

    Hi Pharan, thanks for this!

You can use cut/paste: Click the C thumbnail. Ctrl X. Click the B thumbnail. Ctrl V.

We are considering doing an extra mode, so drawing order is easily changeable by just dragging. Right now, there’s Add Clones mode and Slide mode. “Swap mode” is on our consider list.

    Hi Divine,

I sorry to hear you are having trouble. Frankly I am not sure what is happening here – I haven’t heard about this before.

Why it would “repair the download” after you successfully have installed and run Animation Paper I have no idea. Maybe you should just start over, by uninstalling it and then download and install again. You don’t need to register again, just use the same activation key.

Let me know if this helps or you still are having problems.

    Best,
    Niels

EDIT: Oh, wait! I just read your message again – and you didn’t run it the first day. So that makes a bit more sense. Still I am afraid I don’t have any suggestions other than try installing it again as I said. If it still doesn’t work, I will talk to Frederik (lead programmer) and get his take on this. Maybe he will be able to provide better help than me.

Haha, thanks for showing this Alex! I like how he moves with the yawn. I think it would benefit from a bit more time (more clones) here and there – I mean, you could dwell a little more at the ending, so you take in the jungle! 😀 Especially the “for rent” text is so fast you may not be able to read it, at least not the first time.

    Good work! Well done!

    Hi Dina, sounds great! Thanks.

Actually we will be releasing Alpha 6 in only a couple (or few) days from now – this will include the Linux version for the very first time. So I believe you might as well just wait for that.

First I’ll post about it on the blog and then send out an email notice too. So keep an eye out for that.

I’ll look forward to your testing and feedback! Thanks a lot!

    /Niels

If you are using the latest version (Alpha 5), you are able to just drag the sound wave in the X-Sheet up or down, to adjust the starting point of the audio track. If it is locked, you need to turn off the lock first to be able to drag it.

It is only possible to import one audio file. You need to edit your audio first in an audio editor, to create your audio track from several single sound effects. The workflow is often this way – you animate to an audio track such as dialogue or music and that’s why it makes sense to do your animation AFTER the audio. It can be done this way with sound effects as well, but of course sound effects could be added afterwards in final editing. I hope this makes sense.
