Hi Kirian, OK I see! Thanks a lot for explaining.

And you are in luck! We actually just finished our big customise screens for Animation Paper. This will be part of the next release – Alpha 6.

You will able to drag whatever tool you need from the list at the left to the interface. Take a look below…

Thanks Mike – yeah, I see. And I got the smile! πŸ™‚ I do see more of a need for that with software like Maya and Harmony though, where you are more assets focused, have rigs and scripts and all that. With AP I feel it is more simple, everything is based on drawings. But still – I hear you πŸ™‚

A question: What is holding you back from just creating your library using well organised folders and store ap files with your characters, modelsheets, basic expressions, cycles, etc? Or are you thinking of something more centralised and universal?

If you wanted to copy/paste drawings from one file to another that is totally possible now.

As you probably are already very well aware of, I’m always trying to keep AP simple. Therefore I’m always little reluctant. πŸ˜‰ But let me know more.

    Cheers,
    Niels

Thanks. I feel though that CT and AP has two very different visions/goals. And that dictates a lot of the choices in the design of the UX. But of course I will be able to learn plenty of stuff from Clip Studio. What exactly do you mean by “family friendly”?

Thanks Mike! I got your file!

It’s late here in Denmark – I will have a look tomorrow, and get back to you.

    Hi Mike,

It seems it for some reason is struggling to keep up. So it will skip frames to try to keep in sync – but apparently it doesn’t succeed.

Would you mind uploading your .ap file somewhere and email me the link so I can investigate what is happening? Or you can we-transfer it to me. My email is the one you got your activation key from.

Also, what is your computer specs? OS, memory, CPU, etc?

    Thanks,
    Niels

OK, I see. Thanks a lot Constantino. And by the way, I have no problem understanding – your english seems very good to me.

    Hi Constantino,

Thanks a lot for your suggestions!

Even though many like the “traditional” way of having the X-sheet vertical as you did in the old analogue days, I do appreciate many Β are used to horizontal timelines from other software and like that best. It would be totally doable to just have the exact same functionality of the AP X-sheet, but as a horizontal layout. At some point we will probably go ahead and have a user setting so you will be able to have it either way.

About zoom: When you zoom holding down Z and dragging, you can do it both left/right and up/down. I believe we have made it to what is considered “standard”. As far as I am aware, all other software, both 2D and 3D use right and/or down to zoom in (magnify) and left/up for zooming out. Also you can zoom using Ctrl on PC and the number keys (Cmd on Mac). Another way is to use ctrl + (plus) or ctrl – (minus) keys (on Mac it is Cmd + and Cmd -). In the latest version you can even use the mouse scroll wheel to zoom.

Could you be more specific on how you want it and maybe which programs you are used to that does it opposite of AP?

Thanks again for your time and nice words!

    Best,
    Niels

Animation Paper is software for your PC or Mac – not something that runs in a browser. So you have to download and install it, if you want it. It really is no problem though.

    Hi Jhune,

Yeah, I know. We are getting there. The next update (Alpha 6) is pretty close, but as I wrote in my latest blog post:

“Our list of features and improvements to do, gets shorter and shorter. We plan to have a couple of alpha releases more. We focus on getting everything finely tuned – and not take in new ideas, that is not already on our todo-list, unless there’s really good reasons to do them of course. πŸ™‚

Our mission from now on, is to reach the point where everything included feels complete, is super stable and production ready. When we reach that point we can publish and start getting some income and those people who may be reluctant to work with alpha and beta versions can safely come on board. I think we all look forward to that point.

Even though we are half way through development of all the coloring features, we have decided to pause it to complete the rest of the list. So first we publish Animation Paper 5.0. Then, following close to immediately after, a free update to 5.1 – that include all the coloring features. This is the good and faster way forward.”

What do you think of this decision?

    All the best,
    Niels

Hi Deif! Just wanted to give those who showed interest in the Linux version a heads up. We are working on the Linux version of Animation Paper as we speak. If you would like to test the very first internal version (probably limited and very buggy) the minute we have it ready, then please email me! My email is the one you got your activation key from.

I can’t say how long it will be, but we are definitely getting a lot closer! I need a few testers for the first very rough versions – before we do a real alpha release for Linux. That will probably be Alpha 6 or 7 together with Win and Mac versions.

    Let me know! Thanks!

    Cool. Thanks, Mario.Β I understand.

By the way: If you hold your cursor above any tool icon or area, you will get a tool tip after a second or so. The tool tip displays the name of the function and the shortcut. It’s somewhat similar to what we had in the old PAP.

    Cheers,
    Niels

    Hi Mario,

Thanks! I was quite happy with those written tutorials for the old PAP as well πŸ˜‰

The current video tutorials is only meant as rough info on the alpha releases (made before alpha 1). We will of course do proper video tutorials with much more depth for the final release of Animation Paper. We also plan to have some written info.

These days it seems to me that people generally prefer video over text. So if you have all the information included, wouldn’t you prefer it presented as a long series of smaller video tutorials? Let me know.

    Thanks,
    Niels

Your view on bitmap is noted.

I’m not sure I understand the part about “looking forward to manually tweeting without lag”?
