KeymasterThanks a lot John!
Customized grids including some perspective functionality is something we want to include. But it will be after the alpha stage where a lot of functionality is prioritised higher. It is a good idea, and I think we could do it in a natural way so it won’t clutter up the simplicity of Animation Paper.
Rotation tool in steps: If you use shortcuts < and > it will rotate in steps of 15°. You can always reset your view (no rotation and 100% zoom) by hitting 0. Other shortcuts to know about is the numpad number keys: You can use them as compass directions, so 8 is north (no rotation), 9 is rotated towards north east, 6 is east, and so on.
Yes custom layer colors are coming very soon. Alpha 4 or 5.
Custom brushes are not possible at the moment. We plan to do a brush system for the next major release (v6.0).
Thanks for taking the trouble of updating your system for Animation Paper. I hope you think it is worth it.
Best,

KeymasterThank Ross! And sorry to 정언 이 – for some reason your message has slipped my attention. Sorry. Would it be possible for you to install WinTab drivers, as Ross is saying? That has helped several people with this problem. We will be looking into making Animation Paper work out of the box on more systems, but for now, this might be a solution for you.

KeymasterHi Randall, sounds like it is running using Windows Ink. Could that be the case? Animation Paper works best without Windows Ink – so it relies on the Wacom drivers only.

KeymasterGreat. Thanks for letting me know. Please also come back to tell me how it goes with the WinTab drivers. Thanks a lot, Bryan!

KeymasterHahaha 🙂 That’s awesome! So funny! Thanks for showing it!

KeymasterThanks J! Appreciated.
Actually we have already experimented with building XML that loads right into FCPX. It takes your originals and does the holds, reused drawings and all – works very well.
This will come to you during this alpha stage.
In reply to: Reference image window wanted, training videos and reference sheet would be nice

KeymasterHi Bryan – Yes, we will do guides and a reference sheet for the final version. Also the videos are to be considered “alpha”, so we will do new ones for the final release as well.
I’m not sure I understand you correctly when you talk about “reference image not in the x-sheet” – please let me know, if your point was something else. 🙂

In reply to: Continous Recording possible?

KeymasterHi Georg, thanks for this.
So, to make sure I understand, you want to have a way of “recording” your strokes as you draw? So it can be played back again so viewers watch your drawings being drawn stroke for stroke, right?
That is not something we have in Animation Paper now. However, it would be fairly easy to do (as you mentioned). We have discussed this before internally, so I will put it on the list and then I’ll see if we can find a good and nonintrusive way to make it work UX-wise.
Cheers,

KeymasterHD 1080 is the resolution of modern standard television. There’s will be no pixelation in HD. Of course you can zoom in to see the pixels in Animation Paper, but that is on purpose so you can check the details of the actual pixels. This is perfectly normal.
If you need to output in higher resolution – if you want to do 4K for cinema viewing or monitors that can actually display that, then you can go to 4K. But the point is, you don’t need to work in 4K. You can work in say, 2K (or even 1K), and then scale up to 4K as the last thing you do before exporting. Drawings and lines done in Animation Paper will scale up perfectly without degradation or blur.
Working in 4K is demanding unless you have super hardware. No need to. So just work in 2K and export in 4K. Much better to have the fast feedback.

KeymasterHi Bryan,
Animation Paper seems to not work on Surface Pro. This is of course something we need to correct. 🙂
In the meantime, could you try installing WinTab drivers? This seems to have helped many people in your situation.
