KeymasterI understand. Many functions are nice to have as one key press or hold. But there’s too many for all to be like that. I have given the shortcuts vast amounts of consideration. But I know that we all have our favourite ways, so doing your own is of course the best at the end of the day. This possibility will come in a following alpha update.

KeymasterThanks Paul.
So a short slanted line is what you are looking for? Noted. Thanks.
Assigning tools to the Wacom pen switches are a matter of setting it up in your Wacom settings right? So just assign the shortcuts D for Draw and E for Erase. Or did I misunderstand?
4 monitors? Impressive! π
Others have mentioned this need too. At least the X-sheet should be able to tare off as a separate window. Then it can be placed on a second monitor. Already my plan was to have a full view of your current frame, kind of as a reference, on a 2nd monitor. That is to come soon.

KeymasterHi Dave – I think that sounds like a fantastic idea! As you say, we have to “feel it” before we can say if your exact way of doing it will work just right. But I definitely like your way of thinking. We will try it and let you know how it goes. Maybe we can send you a build for you to test at some point. It’s on our list now! Thanks!

KeymasterOh! You just sent me screenshots!
Thanks! This looks like a problem a few others have too. Some graphics card issue. We are looking into this.

KeymasterOK – so whatβs the problem with pencil and undo?

KeymasterOh, yeah, and this special one: Hold Return (aka Enter) for Return Flip! π

KeymasterActually this springloading is all over the place in Animation Paper already!
Hold Space, Hold Alt and Ctrl (or Cmd on Mac). Hold E to get to eraser settings. Hold D for draw settings. Hold S for the Speed Dial, hold H, R or Z for Hand tool, Rotate or Zoom to name what springs to mind.
Did you know about these?

KeymasterThanks for this info Goran!
I does seem, though, like it will work if you just try again later without changing anything. This is strange, but that is how it has been for all the ones (6-8 people) I heard about having this problem. It sounds like some kind of glitch in the connection or something – maybe at our end.
We are looking into why this happens. But at least it seems to be possible to overcome for now with a little patience.

KeymasterOh, about the cursor designs! Could you elaborate a little on which types you like? Maybe we can improve something here.

KeymasterHi Paul,
Thanks for you nice words after all π I’m sorry if Animation Paper is useless to you. I guess I can’t make everybody happy π
Yes, in my design of the software I am sticking to how the traditional exposure-sheet was layed out – having layers as columns next to each other. Animation Paper is in that sense very old school.
However, we might do an option to switch this around. But that will be in a future update.

KeymasterThanks Aneesh. We’ll see what we can do. We might have a solution for the next alpha if all goes well.
In reply to: Preferences?
April 24, 2020 at 9:33 pm #2606Niels
KeymasterYes, preferences are not implemented yet. And that includes the ability to customise the keyboard shortcuts. This will come in a following alpha update though.
However, for now, did you notice the Q and W keys? They are an alternative to exactly the up/down arrow keys. And they are better positioned (to the left) on the keyboard if you are using your right hand to draw with.
Check out the keyboard shortcuts for more info. You get to them in the Help menu of Animation Paper.

KeymasterHi Aneesh,
Thanks for this!
I know it works for some. But it is entirely possible that not all kinds of touch screens are supported. We will work on that.
What kind of laptop do you have? Specs please π
