In reply to: Pen often clicks and freezes

KeymasterHi Whipple, thanks for the recording. It’s a bit difficult for me to be sure I get the problem exactly – but it seems to me that sometimes the cursor stays in a frozen position while you draw the line (the line updates fine while you draw it). Is that correct?
I haven’t seen this behavior before, so it’s a bit puzzling…

KeymasterWe haven’t been able to fully understand this or find anything yet. Interesting with the window quickly appearing at startup. Hmmm…

KeymasterHi again Katherine,
I just did a few quick Google searches. It seems this problem is not necessarily Animation Paper related. Can you try disabling Windows Ink? From what I can read, this should fix the problem for you. You disable it from your Windows system settings.
How many drawbacks – if any – this introduces, I don’t know. Maybe you can just try it and see how well it works for you? Please let me know.
Thanks,

KeymasterHi Katherine, thanks a lot for reporting this. I haven’t heard of this weird one before. But thank you very much for describing this in detail. I can imagine how irritating it must be. We’ll investigate!
To suggest something to you right now, you could learn the keyboard shortcuts of the most important menu items, so you at least don’t have to use the menu that often. Alternatively (or additionally) you can customise your Tool Bar or your two Speed Dials – to again have your most wanted (if not all) items easily reachable.
Anyway, thanks again for letting me know. I hope we will soon have a fix for this problem.
Best,

KeymasterThank you very much for this detailed information JalenR11. Much appreciated. You have already helped us a lot finding out what is wrong here. I’ll discuss this with Frederik, our lead programmer, and see what he finds.
Thanks again!

KeymasterThat’s exciting Ezekiel! Best of luck with your project!
I would recommend taking advantage of the OCA (Open Cell Animation) format, so users can export/import their x-sheet timing data, etc.
As I’m sure you are already aware, we are going to implement coloring with fill etc as a free update (in version 5.1 or 5.2) soon after the version we are working on now (5.0).
Thanks a lot Ezekiel!

KeymasterHi Michael. It sounds like a corrupted file. AP should definitely be able to load any ap file – even though it could have been made with an earlier alpha version.
If you don’t mind, you are welcome to email me your ap file, so we can take a closer look at it. We might be so lucky that the file can be partially fixed and then will be able to load. But it depends.
If you by any chance have a backup of your file, it would be the best option to get it back that way. But if not, feel free to send it to me. My email address is the one you got your activation key from.
Crossing fingers for you getting your animation back!

KeymasterThanks for asking Kasey! There’s a few ways, but I would do it like this…
1) While standing on your first drawing, do an Insert Blank Drawing. This will result in a new blank above/before your first drawing.
2) Drag down on the new blank, to do 3 clones. Now your drawing is on frame 5.
I hope this all makes sense.

KeymasterOther options would include installing Animation Paper on a friends computer and export your ap file from there. Also you are welcome to send your files to me, so I can do it. But of course the easiest would be to just have it work on your own system. Hopefully we are ready with the update in time for your deadline.
I think you are right about it not having to do with the size of the file/animation. Thanks for testing it though and letting me know.
