November 30, 2020 at 9:31 am #3355NielsKeymasterBy the way, you can use “.” (full stop) to toggle between drawing/erasing. I know it is probably yet another key for you to get used to, but maybe it helps after all?

November 30, 2020 at 9:29 am #3354NielsKeymasterI totally get it. I would say I am in the same category as you are. Only I have listened to many people who like adjusting their pencil/brush all the time. So ideally it should cater to both personalities.
Anyway, thanks a lot. Your point is definitely taken. I will find a solution.

November 27, 2020 at 8:00 pm #3350NielsKeymasterYeah, I like the idea. Others have mentioned this (holding e) to me as well.
The only thing is that we already have hold E and hold D functionality working. Holding E gives you the Eraser settings and holding D – the Draw Settings. When you let go, the box goes away.
Do you like this way of getting to the settings easily and quickly? Maybe we could do both somehow? I mean, if you hold and draw/erase right away it works as you say – but if you wait for the settings to come up without putting the pen to the surface it goes to settings mode? Of course this could turn out to be too much and too complicated to easily figure out and work with. But maybe it would be worth testing.
What do you think Kristian? I would love to hear if you could elaborate further? Maybe you prefer to have the settings come up in a completely other way? Please let me pick your brain! π

I’ll answer in english for others to understand…
Yes, we have a known issue when Animation Paper runs on Surface (possibly other touch screen laptops as well). We need a proper fix, but for now, you should be able to make it work by doing this: Find the file βqt.confβ (probably here C:\Program Files\Animation Paper\qt.conf). Delete it or rename it (to save it). Then launch Animation Paper again.
This will force Animation Paper to use Windows Ink and should give you pressure sensitivity etc.
Best wishes,

November 27, 2020 at 7:41 pm #3348NielsKeymasterHi Karl, thanks very much for reporting this. When I try to recreate it here, I can’t seem to make it happen. Maybe I am missing a step or something? Would it be possible for you to write an even more detailed step by step description on how to get the bug to happen? And do you start with a new scene or with an already existing animation loaded?
If we could recreate the bug here, we have the best chances to fix it. Your help is much appreciated!

November 26, 2020 at 8:24 pm #3344NielsKeymaster(I got your email earlier and replied this:)
It should be fine. Maybe it was a connection glitch. Could you please try it again and let me know how it goes?

In reply to: Chalk Dancers on PAP Alpha 3
November 25, 2020 at 9:05 am #3336NielsKeymasterHi Aletta – thank you very much for your nice words and for showing this beautiful creation. It is very clear that you know dancing from within. Keep dancing this way! Well done!
About your questions:
As it is right now, you can switch between to types of cursors. Just hit “,” (comma) on your keyboard. You might find one more visible than the other. For later releases we plan to make the cursor more customisable, so you can choose between more visual possibilities and also give it more or less opacity.
To propagate a sequence, you can go to File > Export > Frames in the menus. You will be able to export as a sequence of PNG images (there’s all sorts of options). Later (soon) we will add export of movie clips in MP4 and Quicktime ProRes formats.

November 24, 2020 at 7:00 pm #3333NielsKeymasterHi Skylie,
Don’t be scared – you can not brake anything.
So, you signed up. Let me ask you these questions to find out where you are in the process: Did you receive the email? Did you click the download button? Did you choose PC or Mac? Did you install it? Did you get, and use, your activation key? Do you have Animation Paper open? Did you watch the video-tutorials?
Let me know, and I will love to help you.
Cheers,

November 18, 2020 at 10:45 pm #3331NielsKeymasterSorry, that you should encounter this known issue. At least, if I understand you correctly, it seems like the same problem as these people have:
The same here: https://animationpaper.com/forums/topic/glitched-brush-textures-glitched-squares-when-using-ctrl-z/
I can tell you, that we are aware of it and we are working on a solution. We hope to have it solved with our next release (Alpha 4).
I’m really sorry that I recommended Animation Paper as being much better than PAP – and then you run into this. Bad luck. It works very well for the vast majority. And it will work well for you too – when we find a solution…
Thanks,

November 18, 2020 at 7:58 pm #3327NielsKeymasterOla! Sorry I have to answer in english. Just to recap in english: You are asking about the old PAP – you are having problems loading or saving anything, even the tutorial walkcycle will not load.
That is strange – it should load and save without any problems. I haven’t touched PAP since we stopped developing it almost 2 decades ago. π So I have no idea on how to help I’m afraid. All I can say is that it SHOULD work. However, PAP was obviously not made with todays modern computers in mind. So maybe you have stumbled across some basic problem that could have turned up with the latest update of Windows? Another possibility is of course that something could have went wrong when installing?
Sorry I can’t help you better. My best advise is to use Animation Paper (latest alpha version). This is both much better and much easier to learn – everything just works better and is based on modern conventions. And it is free as well. I see no reason AT ALL to use the old antiquated version! π

November 17, 2020 at 7:19 pm #3322NielsKeymasterThanks for clarifying Mark! Truly appreciated.
Very good points and good ideas. I totally agree with you. Thank you!
So the only thing for me to check is what is possible hardware-wise with a Wacom (and other brands). Like you say, is it possible to register touch (of up to five fingers) together with the pen tip at the same time?
I have a Cintiq my self and I must admit I had to just disable touch, because it kept triggering on my hand as I rested it while drawing with the pen on the surface. Maybe it is better on newer models? Anyway, I love your ideas! I really hope it will be possible to do! Thanks again!
Best,
Niels
