Yeah, gestures like this are in our plans. I will use your good suggestions for reference, when we get to it soon.
I was thinking, though, if fanning would be better with just one or two fingers needing to touch. I understand your analogy, but to make it simpler and less straining for your hand maybe it would work better with just one finger dragging up/down to flip back/forth. What do you think?

November 13, 2020 at 8:51 am #3316NielsKeymasterThanks for asking Corin!
What we are working on right now is coloring and painting. This is a large area with lots of functionality, so this will be spread over a few alpha releases. But it includes “paint layers” suitable for coloring your animation, including fill tool and color picker, but also drawing/painting in color and cool ways of changing/adjusting colors already used in your animation.
At some time after that we plan to have notching tools, so you are able to just push (move) your lines slightly (without any degradation or blurring) which is excellent for close inbetweening etc.
Coming quite soon are features to store your draw tool settings, so you can easily make a set of favourite pencils, markers and brushes and quickly get to them.
As for a real photoshop-like brush system, we plan to look into that as the first thing for the next major future release.
Did you have any specific hopes/wishes? Ideas are very welcome!

November 11, 2020 at 9:32 pm #3314NielsKeymasterNo problem – it’s in the menu: Paint > Transparency Shown As > White
NielsKeymasterThanks a lot Timur! This is something we very well could have in the preferences section. Thanks!
By the way – did you know Animation Paper already have two different drawing cursors you can toggle between? (Cross-hair and dot).

November 10, 2020 at 9:45 am #3307NielsKeymasterHi Melina,
Thanks for letting me know – and sorry for your bad experience.
This is a well known issue AP has with a few older graphics cards on PC. I am not able to do something about it right now, but we will hopefully have found out what exactly is causing this and have done a fix for it – with one of the next alpha releases.
If you have access to another computer, you can try Animation Paper there – if that is at all an option for you of course. In the meantime we will work on fixing it.
Thanks,

November 9, 2020 at 10:23 pm #3303NielsKeymasterUh, that thing again. 🙁
Thanks for letting me know. I almost forgot about it I must admit. 🙂
Actually, it is totally unrelated to the old version, even though it is seemingly the same problem.
Anyway, I seem to remember, when it comes to Animation Paper, that it had something to do with two monitor setups. You having a Cintiq connected to a computer could count as a two monitor setup I guess.
Could I get you to try changing which screen is seen as “primary” in Windows? And also try changing the layout, so they are not positioned above each other but side by side (or vice versa). Does any of that make a difference to the offset cursor problem?
Not that you have to permanently change your setup – it’s just to give us a clue as to what provokes this bug in Animation Paper. We need to get it fixed of course.
Thanks a lot for your help Marco!

November 9, 2020 at 9:37 am #3300NielsKeymasterThat’s great to hear Jules! Thank you!
NielsKeymasterHi Mike!
Well, it will take a while. Hard to say exactly. We are working on much of the coloring functionality and there’s quite a bit of complicated work in it. So all coloring features will be spread over alpha 4 and 5 if not more. We’ll release alpha 4 as soon as it makes sense.

November 5, 2020 at 10:19 am #3296NielsKeymasterHi CS, that does indeed sound odd. Thanks for letting me know.
Could I get you to do a screenshot and either post it here or email it to me? I’m hoping I will be able to spot something out of the ordinary.
My email address is the one you got your activation key from.

November 5, 2020 at 10:14 am #3295NielsKeymasterHi JulesQA!
Thanks for getting in contact about this.
I’m guessing this could be caused by a too high resolution-percent-setting in your Windows preferences. Try setting it lower or to 100%. I think this would make Animation Paper start up with a smaller size window (including smaller buttons/icons/interface) – making it better fit your screen.
Let me know how it goes!

November 5, 2020 at 10:01 am #3294NielsKeymasterHaha, yeah, that’s probably a good idea anyway 🙂
Thanks for this Mario. Like you indicate, this problem seems to only happen on a few specific older graphics cards. Great if you can get to borrow your wives computer – and upgrading your own is of course nice. But we want to fix this problem if at all possible, so it works on the most systems as possible of course.

November 5, 2020 at 9:51 am #3293NielsKeymasterHi Russ,
First of all, sorry for my slow responce!
Wow, that is quality bug reporting! Thank you! I was able to recreate it here – I had to go from 1280×720 to 2K for it to happen here, but it did. That makes it very easy for us to fix it. Thank you again Russ!

October 30, 2020 at 8:06 am #3285NielsKeymasterAlright! Thanks Mike!
Right now we have begun work on all the coloring features. This will take a while. So coloring will probably be spread over both alpha 4 and 5. After that we just need to finish up the last few things, and keyboard- and Speed Dial customisation is surely part of that. So you probably need to look out for Alpha 6! 😉

October 29, 2020 at 7:02 pm #3283NielsKeymasterHi Anika!
This behaviour is on purpose. The layer that is generated when you import drawings, or any kind of images, is called a “reference layer”. It is not for drawing directly upon. To draw on top, you just add a new layer (press N) and then you can draw all you want.
Technically the reference- and drawing layers are very different. That is why they must be kept apart.
Cheers,
Niels
