September 8, 2020 at 12:28 pm #3094NielsKeymasterNo problem, Jeff – thanks!
So does that mean, that everything works as expected on your system? (I just want to make sure)

September 7, 2020 at 7:05 am #3088NielsKeymasterGreat! So, does that mean everything works? I suspect the eraser end of your pen is not working? (if you have a physical eraser on your pen?)

September 6, 2020 at 7:47 am #3086NielsKeymasterThanks Jeff! And thanks for the recording.
Did you try to “qt.conf” thing? (- mentioned in my email). I hope that will fix the pressure. Please let me know.
It’s not that I consider these things a fix for you – this is to locate the problems so we can do a proper fix for the next release.
Thanks a lot!

September 4, 2020 at 1:39 pm #3084NielsKeymasterHi again Jeff – I have sent you a test build for you to try! I hope it works on your system – let’s see. Looking forward to hearing from you!

September 4, 2020 at 7:31 am #3083NielsKeymasterHi Jeff – thanks for reporting this.
I’m happy you are able to use this alpha with your Wacom, but of course we need to get AP to work with your preferred setup. We’ll have a look and see if we can get a fix for one of the next alpha releases.
Thanks!

September 3, 2020 at 10:13 pm #3081NielsKeymasterHi Xander, Animation Paper will slowly and gradually develop into the full version, as we implement the last remaining features and fix any bugs and problems. When we can call it finished is hard to say. In fact it will never truly be finished, because after the “final” release, we will of course continue to improve it and release future upgraded versions.
But if you really want some ballpark date, my guess is late this year/early next year. Let’s see how it goes. π
In reply to: Alpha 3 Did I miss it?
September 2, 2020 at 6:21 am #3077NielsKeymasterHi Todd, no you didn’t miss it. Still working on it. We had a few issues that took a lot of extra time. And we had lockdown and summer vacation. But we are almost there now!

September 1, 2020 at 7:17 pm #3075NielsKeymasterThanks for letting me know – good you found out yourself while I’m being slow π
Yes, I agree it would be good if this behaviour could be optional. We will consider the implications.

August 30, 2020 at 10:41 am #3070NielsKeymasterThanks for your kind words Ramiro! – and for your suggestions!
The shift trick for lines is on our todo already. Also animated-gif export is coming soon. π
About the dot cursor: We actually added that because people asked for a small curser that didn’t have an indication of size. They wanted something that was as non-intrusive visually as possible. I understand that. But I also see your need for having some kind of indication of size. How would you like to see this? Could you explain in more detail to give us some ideas?
Thanks a lot!

In reply to: Is the program compatible with digital drawing table ?
August 30, 2020 at 10:32 am #3068NielsKeymasterNo questions are dumb! Yes, Animation Paper is best when used with a drawing tablet. It is compatible with most tablets (like Wacom, Huion, etc) – and if somebody experiences problems with some particular tablet, we need to know about it, so we can make it work for all. That’s one of the important reasons for this pre-release (alpha/beta) period.
Drawing with a mouse is definitely not easy (not really possible) – if you want proper results. Also you don’t have pressure sensitivity with a mouse.
So a drawing tablet is definitely recommended!

August 30, 2020 at 10:25 am #3067NielsKeymasterThanks for these comments and thoughts of your Georges! Your views on the x-sheet/timeline is shared by others too, I know. There are pros and cons. For now I’d like to keep it as it is. But we might decide to make these kind of things optional.
Most of your points are things we are planning to do some time already. π Thanks for letting me know!
Best,

August 25, 2020 at 9:14 pm #3060NielsKeymasterHi Socorro!
Actually exporting as a video format isn’t implemented yet. In the current alpha version (alpha 2) you are only able to export as a sequence of png’s. You can then take those png’s and convert them to a video if needed.
An alternative solution is to do a screen recording while playing your animation.
Anyway, you will be able to export as mp4 and mov prores as soon as we get it done in one of the soon following alpha releases.
Cheers,
Niels
