Thanks for this Mateusz! Very good points! I will see what I can do to get this incorporated some how. 🙂 Thanks again!

    Sure!

The reference layer will be adjustable (move/scale) in one of the next alpha updates.

In alpha 1 the default cursor when drawing or erasing is quite transparent and therefore had to see. Others have mentioned this too. We already fixed that, so in alpha 2 the cursor is more visible.

And already (alpha 1) you do have an option for changing the cursor to a dot (smaller but more visible). Did you try that?

Straight lines using a short cut like in PS is also on our todo for an alpha update. 🙂

Sure, just click the little gizmo at the top of each layer column in the x-sheet. Set your color there.

In PAP black and blue was technically in the same layer, in Animation Paper you have the freedom of them being in separate layers. So much easier to control. I’m sure you need to slightly adjust some habits though. But you can do all the same as you are used to.

PAP 4 had a completely different internal system. This new one makes it possible to scale and rotate without any line degradation. Also having drawings outside your frame, without anything being lost or cut off, when moving it back into frame. Many other advantages with this too. But what you talk about is one of the few drawbacks. I would say, that you normally don’t do numerous numbers of lassoes in the same drawing, however, we will look into optimizing these things soon to make sure it works as well as can be.

Greyed out menu points are features not done yet. Colors will come too in one of the following alpha updates.

Thanks a lot for your points! All of them we already have on our list and will consider carefully. Most is easy to implement, your Photoshop brush point is exactly what we hope to do, but it might turn out very difficult (impossible). Some kind of brush system (if not PS compatible) will going to be a reality at some point I’m sure.

If you just import a png, jpg or gif with your background image, preferably in the correct size/resolution, then it will show up as a reference layer set to 50% opacity.

Make sure this layer is behind all others (drag the buttons left/right at the bottom of the x-sheet) and turn up the opacity to 100%.

    That will do it!

Actually this will be covered, I believe, by our annotations feature (to come soon). You will be able to write (scribble) notes, like numbers with key-circles, charts and everything else in the row “annotations” in the x-sheet. Also you can drag this row over next to any other row (layer) and even link it, so when you alter anything timingwise in your animation, your scribbles (line for line) in the annotations row will follow their respective drawings.

Your point 13 is on our list too! 🙂 You will be able to chose between light and dark checkers and in small and large size. Take a look in the disabled Paint menu – you can see them there (not implemented yet – coming soon).

Thank you, Kuya, for this list. Very good points! And actually they are all on our todolist already! 🙂

Some of them, like the crop tool, will not be exactly like PS, but fitting Animation Papers other tools. The point is that you will get what you need – like moving/scaling multiple drawings at a time, etc.

OK, thanks for this! We’ll try it and see how it feels. You might be right about it being better.

Very nice to read this. Thank you a lot Mark!

Does anyone know how to assign rotation to the Wacom control ring? Could the shortcuts < and > (rotating in steps) be used?
