KeymasterYeah, zoom in off pegs would be useful, I agree. Noted.

KeymasterThanks for this Jareth! Your animation looks great – even after your troubles! 😉
The layers are always in the order of the left most is on top, then down to the right most which is at the bottom. Only exception is the layer you are currently working on. This is what you noticed – it popped above every other layer as you clicked it, so you can always see the layer you are drawing on clearly.
To reorder layers, just drag the “thingies”, at the bottom of each column in the x-sheet, left or right.
In this version the Merge Layers functionality is off (you can find it greyed out in the menu) – we couldn’t finish it before the deadline of the pre-release. But it will come soon.
Moving a selection of many frames at the same time is also coming pretty soon.
Turning off layers that you don’t want to look at with onion skin is just a matter of turning them off (eye).
Also remember that the reason layers are easy to change to another color is exactly to keep layers visually apart. If you have two layers with the same color, they will blend together visually and this is confusing of course. So just keep them with different colors. At the end, when you want to export, you (for the most part) only export your cleaned up (inked) layers and then you most often set them all to black (setting everything to black can be done while exporting as well).
Maybe you where aware of all this already?

KeymasterThat sounds very weird. So it closes the small window where you paste the code?
In reply to: Quick and easy to learn and use. This example only took about 20 minutes.

KeymasterThat looks great Jerry! Thanks for showing it. 20 mins are impressive! Cool.

KeymasterVery cool Diego, good to hear.
A bookmark is a good idea. We actually had that in the old PAP. 🙂
Are you aware of the “Range”? The Range can be set shorter, so you only work with a smaller range of your total frames. This is great when you are working on a longer scene (many frames).

KeymasterThanks Jalenr11, some people have had the same problem, but then when they tried again later it worked. Could you try again – no need to reinstall, just paste the code in again and see if it decides to work this time?

KeymasterActually, if you go to your folder where you installed Animation Paper (probably “c:/Program Files”) you can find a qt.conf file. If you rename that to something else (so you can rename it back if needed) – and run Animation Paper again, it should actually now use Windows Ink! Interesting to see if that works with pressure and all for you?

KeymasterOK, happy you found your own solution. But not having pressure-sensitivity is not optimal. If it works for you now, good. But I will still see if we can find a good solution…
BTW we have tried supporting Windows Ink, but we let it go again, because it introduces all kinds of irritating behaviour with overlays and stuff that makes it frustrating to work with. In my opinion.

KeymasterSorry I don’t see it. I’m reluctant to just write me email straight because of spam bots. But it is this: niels at animationpaper.com.

KeymasterHi Herbert – glad you had a nice surprise there! 😉
Our plan is to have some control over your lines for the next large upgrade (6.0). I am not thinking like spline nodes and tangents, that would not be fitting for Animation Papers sort of “analogue” style. But some kind of nudging would be great I believe. So you can fix less precise lines or do close in-betweens and such by just pushing/adjusting existing lines a little. (again without any degradation of the line).
The requests you listed at the end is all planned for. Especially when we get to do Preferences, there will be room for much of it. And the ability to tear off the X-sheet for another display – you convinced me of that already! 🙂
We are using multithreaded a couple of places, but more important places are possible and will come. In general we have room for optimisations all over the place. So you should hopefully feel the improvements in speed as we get them done.
Thanks very much again!
In reply to: Allow sliding multiple frames
April 6, 2020 at 9:49 am #2188Niels
KeymasterOK, I see.
Slide Mode is for doing that (T to toggle between Add Clones mode and Slide mode). But as it is in the current alpha, you can only slide one original at a time. But it works as you say, by not affecting what comes later down the timeline.
We will do support for sliding a whole selection at the same time for one of the next alphas.
Thank you, Pharan!
